We have really enjoyed having her be a part of the Northampton 'Cudas this year and she loved it. Her coaches were great, they really cheered the kids on and encouraged them to be the best swimmers they can be. LATE (and I mean late) Friday night (when we were all asleep) the coaches went to every swimmer's (that would be swimming in ALL STARS) house and put up a sign that they had made for that swimmer congratulating them on making it that far- they also wrote a note with chalk in the driveway. If that isn't nice enough, you have to remember that the coaches had to be at the pool Saturday at 6:30 in the morning! So when we all got up bright and early (5:45am really isn't that bright!) Saturday morning and saw what they did, it made our day even more special. They were great coaches and can't wait to get Maddie (and Brady, too!) back into it!
Here's the sign that the coaches made
and here's the note they wrote- tough to read in the photo, but it says "We love Cudas, love, Coaches"- very sweet!
Brady being silly VERY EARLY in the morning!
a very tired looking Maddie just waiting to swim
I'm sure Brady is thinking "why do we have to get up soooo early!"
but he loves his big sister!
another crowded day- remember, there are swimmers from 53 teams here!
Maddie the Mermaid just hanging out with her friends
time to play with Daddy
Ok, they called Madison's event to the ready bench... time to get ready to swim!
always time to stop for a picture with some friends (Madison's friend Chloe Rose (L) Chloe's cousin, Lindsey (center) and Madison (R)
all dressed and set to go to the ready bench
these are the girls that are swimming in Event 4- Girls 6 and under 25 meter freestyle. They get into a group, then the lady in the red shirt calls them one by one to give them their heat and lane assignment and gets them onto the ready bench- very complicated with this age group, I would not want her job!
Madison (the one crouched down) on the starting block ready to dive
Madison is in the lane second up from the bottom (yellow swim suit, yellow cap)- blurry picture, but she has such good form!
it was really crowded and tough to get pictures of her swimming, but she did great!
snacking on blueberries- she says they make her swim fast!
heading for the ready bench to swim Event 10- Girls 6 and under 25 meter backstroke
this was exciting for her because one of her friends from ballet (Katherine) was swimming this event with her! Katherine is on a different swim team (The Woodlands Marlins) and we haven't had a chance to see her since ballet ended in May. It was definitely a nice surprise for her!
Maddie (4th lane up from the bottom- yellow cap) getting ready to swim backstroke
Madison is 4th lane from the bottom (can't see her, though, she's just a big splash!)
again, 4th lane up from the bottom- you can see her face with her yellow cap and purple goggles
same lane, she's right in the center of the photo and she's swimming fast... remember, these swimmers are all the best of their teams & Maddie is keeping right up with them- not bad for her very first year of competitive swimming!
These are the 4 girls that swam the Girls 6 and Under 25 Meter freestyle Relay for her team (Northampton 'Cudas) Michaela (L), Madison, Chloe Rose, and Louisa (R)
our relay team being silly- or maybe it was the last month of consecutive 100+ degree temperatures and the heat has finally gotten to them!
time to swim! Madison is the one diving in!
Maddie is the 3rd swimmer up from the bottom and, I believe, her relay team came in second place! Yeah!!!
Well, summer league swimming is over for the season and we hardly know what to do with all our free time now (we're used to practice 5 days a week and a swim meet every Saturday!)... year 'round swimming for The Woodlands Swim Team (or TWST- pronounced twist) starts on August 19th! Keep your fingers crossed that she makes the team!
